Action, Advocacy, Arts

The "AAA" program uses the arts as a central vehicle to build relationships among the community and ASU students, faculty and staff. By sharing their stories and art, the community transforms the ASU University Center building into a hub of conversation, culture and social engagement focused on current issues affecting the university and its surrounding communities.

Spring 2014 Exhibition | Portrait of a Community

rooseveltrowpic

Portraits tell stories and engage our imagination. They help to show who we are, how we want to be seen, and how we feel about our own identity and our place within the community. As humans we are fascinated by faces and places; we are interested in what it means to be an individual. The goal of this exhibit is to create portraits of elements that make up a community – buildings, homes, landscapes, and most especially people. We invite you to create paintings, drawings, photographs, and works of mixed media that explore portraiture and community.

Fall 2013 Exhibition | Mapping: Movement and Memory

mapsimgfpaaa

ASU's Action, Advocacy, Arts (AAA) program personally invites you to exhibit your artwork in Mapping: Movement and Memory, the program's fall 2013 exhibition. Maps can be used to explore geographical regions, borders, as well as personal and emotional states. The goal of the exhibit is to use maps in your art work or to create your own map that will explore and define experiences, mark favorite places or traveling paths, or describe a journey either real or imagined. We invite you to create paintings, drawings, works of mixed media that explore maps and map making.

Spring 2013 Exhibition | Neighborhood Stories

thumb1
The 2013 spring exhibition is a platform for the voices of organizations and individuals whose missions and interests focus on the neighborhood. What do you think of when you hear the word “neighborhood”? What does your neighborhood look like? What is a neighbor? What are your hopes for your neighborhood? In belonging to a community our lives intersect and influence one another. We are able to create bonds and strengthen relationships. Click here for dates and information about the exhibition.
